Thank you! As an older woman (70’s) two years into entering a Master’s degree, this is so helpful! At the beginning of each course I have battled the many things you mentioned- the best news is that those lies have gotten fainter and fainter as I continue to engage and learn, by His grace, to see this as exploration rather than performance.
I experience love--agape--as being in right relationship with God and assuming dominion/stewardship over God's good creation. Isn't that the commission of Genesis? Has God's love through Jesus' sacrificial and commissoning love [go and make disciples] been parlayed into Jesus loves you just as you are which sends a pulpit message that repentance is not necessary. Love seems overworked.

Thank-you, Dr. Jones! A copy of "Rules for Doing Theology" will be placed under the glass on my desk.
I appreciate the humble attitude, the willingness to be messy, and a trust in God and your voice. It should be taught early in life!
This is splendid! Love it!
This is so good! Thank you!

our congregation doesn't hear the sin word much. hell either. we hear much about love and acceptance just as we are. culture prevails.
